About the Moonstone Concept
Moonstone products offer efficient cleaning and recycling of vehicle and equipment wash water. Our range of compact, turnkey systems - with capacities from 5 to 80 gallons per minute - will help you comply with government restrictions on the discharge of untreated wash water, and save you money by recycling wash water for economical re-use again and again.
How the Moonstone System Works:
Waste/wash water passes through Moonstone equipment, where a special Reactive Separating Agent (RSA) powder traps contaminants. From here, treated water is piped to the Clean Water Holding Tank where it is stored and ready for reuse. Residue from the cleaning process is collected in either bag filters, or on a filter cloth, depending on the Moonstone model.
Moonstone Systems Improve Performance of Oil/Water Separators
Wash water discharged through a conventional oil/water separator can be problematic because of today's high quality detergents. These detergents cause oil and water to emulsify, with resulting incomplete separation and the discharge of contaminated water. The problem can be solved by pumping the contaminated water from the last chamber of the separator to the Moonstone dirty water mixing tank, where it goes through the Moonstone cleaning process. The Moonstone process also removes odor causing bacteria which pass through conventional filters.
A typical Moonstone system installation: Wash water is drained from the wash area to a catch basin, then cleaned and recycled for continued re-use.
Moonstone's RSA blends are specially formulated separating powders that remove emulsified oils, dissolved metals and suspended solids from waste/wash water. The 'before and after' photo shows the dramatic difference in water cleaned using the Moonstone system.
